The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international body which sets standards across the web, the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) are part of the W3C and have created guidelines to ensure that websites are accessible to a wide range of people using a variety of technologies and with varying abilities. These guidelines are called the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 1.0. There are three priorities or levels of accessibility a website can reach, they could be summarised as:- Single-A (what you must do);
- Double-A (what you should do); and
- Triple-A (what you may do).
ViSTAjobs website was
built, balancing the WCAG 1.0 guidelines (which are due to be update towards the end of 07), with the Royal National Institute for the Blind’s, see it right guidelines for website accessibility.
The site complies with all the checkpoints
required to meet Priority 1 and 2 of the WAI guidelines and most of the
checkpoints for Priority 3.
Job posts submitted to the site are regularly

- Multi-drop down menu’s are
operational on some pages.To access using keyboard:
Internet Explorer 6 and 7: Once you've tabbed
to the multi drop down menu, press shift and F8 (just momentary, not held down).
Then navigate up and down with cursors and hit space to select.
Mozilla Firefox: Hold down ctrl, use the
cursor up/down to navigate, and hit space (whilst still holding down ctrl) to
select.
