Preparing your Advert

What you should know

ViSTAjobs is a service which is dedicated to supporting the Voluntary, Community and Public Sectors in the South West and we do not advertise job vacancies for private industries or agencies.

Registering

Firstly you will need to register for the service.  This process can take as little as 10 minutes. You will be asked:
  • For employer’s contact details;
  • For a contact name;
  • To submit an employer’s profile (summary of the aim and role of your group/organisation/company).  1000 characters
  • To select your desired job package(s)
  • To set a password (this will give you access to your default account)
Please note, ViSTAjobs visitors will have access to email you via a small contacts form.

Please ensure you have read our Privacy statement and Terms and Conditions prior to registering on the site.

You will be sent an email confirming your login details and you will be given instant access to your employer’s management account area, where you may begin to prepare your first job advert(s).

Please note, your account will require authorisation by ViSTA staff prior to any of your jobs going live on the site.  This will normally take between one and two working days.

Once your account has been authorised, any jobs you have prepared or subsequently post to the website will go live immediately.

ViSTA staff run regular checks and have the right to modify any of your adverts should they see fit.

Employer’s Management Area

Setting a Contact Person (required)

Each job uploaded to the system must be assigned a contact person.  First set up their contact details in the 'CONTACT PERSONS section.

Adding a Job Advert  (Required)

Job adverts can be added in the VACANCIES section and require the following details:

  1. Job Title;
  2. Contact Person;
  3. Employers Reference;
  4. Salary;
  5. Job Status; (Full time/Part-time hourly/Part-time pro rata)
  6. Hours Per Week;
  7. Perks/Comments;
  8. Region; (SW Areas - For search purposes)
  9. Exact Location;  (Where the work is based)
  10. Job Category;
  11. Brief Job Description (maximum 3000 characters);
  12. Keywords (if someone were to search for your job vacancy in Google what key search words/phrases would they use?).
  13. Closing Date

    Tips for maximising visibility to potential candidates:
  • It is possible to select more than one category item for some of the above categories.
  • Please refrain from using the ‘other’ option in the Job Category wherever possible.  If your job does not apply to any of the options, please let us know. 

Job Packs (Optional)

ViSTAjobs  allows employers to post up onto the site a job pack containing everything a potential candidate may want in order to apply for the post.  The web site has the capacity for up to 8 documents which together form your job pack.  Four of these documents are considered to be generic organisation documents (ie will apply to every vacancy within the organisation):

  • Job Application Form (Category 1);
  • Equal Opportunities Policy (Category 2) ;
  • Equal Opportunities Monitoring form (Category 3);
  • Criminal Convictions Policy (Category 4).
These documents can be uploaded to employers PROFILE section and will be automatically added to all subsequent job adverts you post until you amend them.

The following are deemed to be job specific documents and can be uploaded in the VACANCIES section while uploading your job information:

  • Job Description (Category 5);
  • Personal Specification (Category 6);
  • Background Information (Category 7);
  • Other (one other document) (Category 8).
Please note:
  • Only one document can be uploaded to each category,
  • Supported formats: Portable Document Format (PDF) or Word documents
  • Maximum document size = 500k.  
  • Files take longer to upload to a system than to download from the system.

Logos (Optional)

Logos can be added to your profile from your employer management area, once you have set-up your account.  The required specifications are as follows:
  • Format: Jpeg or Gif
  • Width 120 pixels
  • Height: 80 pixels
  • Resolution: 72 dpi
If you have a logo and you don’t know how to modify it, you can email it to us via our contacts form and we will be happy to adjust it for you. 
 

Other Facilities

From your employer’s management area you will be able to:
  • Add additional passwords to enable other colleagues, to be the named contact person for specific jobs.
  • Order/Renew packages.
  • View your ViSTAjobs Statistics.
  • Close your Account.
