Who we are?

We are Voluntary Sector Training Alliance Ltd (ViSTA) – a voluntary sector social enterprise based in Somerset providing the ViSTAjobs recruitment web site.

To provide this web site service we work in partnership with web developers / hosting services based in the UK, referred to in this document as ViSTAjobs affiliates.

What information do we collect?

When you visit ViSTAjobs web site you may provide us with two types of information:

Personal information, you knowingly choose to disclose; and
Statistical web site user information, collected on an anonymous basis as you and others browse our Web site.

Personal information

Registration

When you register for any of our services you will provide us with information about yourself.

Jobs by email registration
The jobs by email service requires you to disclose your email address and job preferences. Details collected via the jobs by email service remain active for 180 days from the time you last saved details. After this period the details will expire but remain on the server until such time as the service is reactivated or deleted by the user or ViSTA staff during a periodic removal of inactive accounts.
Employers registration
Employers will supply personal contact details and information about their group/organisation/company. All information supplied may be displayed on the web site and viewed/downloaded by other web site users. Job pack items such as job description, personal spec will be removed from the system once the job expires. However the groups/organisations/companies generic profile and associated policy documents such as equal opportunities forms, criminal convictions policy, will remain on the system until the employer decides to close the account from the Employers Management Area, or ViSTA staff identify that the account has not be used for over a 12 month period and may contact the employer to ascertain if it is redundant and should therefore be removed.

Email information/Contact us form

If you choose to correspond with us through email or ViSTAjobs contact form, we may retain the content of your messages together with your email address and our responses.

Information in the email we receive and send will not be disclosed to any third party without the permission of the sender.

Any messages transmitted by email including jobs by email are sent unencrypted and thus may not be secure and remain confidential while being transmitted.

Statistical web site user information

As with most web sites, ViSTAjobs web site maintains a log of activity on its site. Your IP address will be recorded, the address of the site that referred you to the ViSTAjobs web site, the type and version of the browser you are using… (full list of data collected from visitor). This is then collated with data from other visitors to form the web site statistics.

What this information will be used for?

We use the information collected on ViSTAjobs to administer the services you requested and to monitor the use of the service, our marketing and promotional efforts.

ViSTA cannot be held liable for data provided to third parties in the above circumstances.

Data protection

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have legal obligations towards you in the way that we deal with any data collected from you. Please note that your information will be stored and processed on our computers in the United Kingdom.

Updating personal information

ViSTAjobs gives registered users (job seekers, volunteers, employers) the ability to modify their information. Deleting an account will delete all information stored on the web server.

You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that ViSTA collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us at the usual address.

Data retention

Information will not be retained once it is no longer required for its stated purpose.

Cookies

When you visit ViSTAjobs web site, the pages you view, along with a small text files called a ‘cookie’, is downloaded onto your computer. The cookie allows those people who are registered users to access password protected areas of the web site.
